Privacy

What this site does with your data.

The only thing I ask you for is an email address, and only if you join the newsletter. A few outside services load on the site as well, and they see more than I do. This page says which ones, what they see, and how to get your email address removed.

The newsletter

If you join the Postcard Club, I store your email address with Resend, the service that sends the emails. I use it for the welcome email and the monthly postcard, and for nothing else. I don't sell it or hand it to anyone.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. When you use it, your address stays on file marked as unsubscribed, so you don't get added back by accident. If you'd rather I delete it completely, email me and I will.

What the site itself stores

I don't set any cookies myself. If you use the light and dark toggle, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage as "nm-theme" so the next page opens in the right mode. That stays in your browser. The fonts are served from this site, so loading them doesn't involve a third party.

Hosting

Netlify hosts the site. To serve a page it sees your IP address, your browser and device details, and which page you asked for, and it keeps standard server logs. That is how any web host works. Netlify's own privacy policy covers what it does with them.

Affiliate links and Travelpayouts

Travelpayouts is the biggest one. Its script loads on every page so it can tell which outbound links are affiliate links and credit clicks to me. While it runs, it sends the address of the page you're on, the page you came from, and basic browser details to Travelpayouts. It sets a cookie called "am_user_session" and an entry in local storage on this domain. It loads more scripts from Travelpayouts and affiliate network domains, and it requests a font stylesheet from Google Fonts, which means Google sees your IP address too.

When you click through to a merchant, that merchant and the affiliate network can set their own cookies, and their privacy policies apply from there. I don't control what those scripts do beyond choosing whether to load them. The guides are text and images, so they read the same if you block the script.

Embeds and images

  • Guides that include one of my Instagram reels load Instagram's embed script. Instagram (Meta) can see that your browser visited the page and can set its own cookies, whether or not you press play.
  • Guide photos load from Unsplash's image servers, so Unsplash sees your IP address.
  • The Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube links in the footer don't load anything from those sites until you click them.

No analytics

I don't run an analytics tool on this site, so I can't see who reads what.

Your rights

You can ask me what I have about you, ask me to fix it, or ask me to delete it. Emailmedia@nomadminh.comand I'll answer within a month. The law gives people in the EU, the UK, and California specific rights here, and I'll honor them for anyone, wherever you live. I send the newsletter because you asked for it, and you can withdraw that at any time.

For data held by the outside services above, you'll need to go to them. I can't see or delete what Travelpayouts, Instagram, or Unsplash keep.

Kids

This site is written for adults planning trips. I don't knowingly collect anything from children under 13.

Changes

If something here changes, I update this page and the date at the bottom. The money side of the site, meaning affiliate links and sponsored work, is on thedisclosure page.

the other boring page. last updated October 1, 2026.
